The Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department has accelerated preparations to launch the Rising Star Portal, a digital platform developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board designed to register athletes from across the province, track their achievements, and generate data-driven insights for sports policymakers and administrators.

Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fazal ur Rehman chaired a dedicated review meeting at Punjab Stadium, where a PITB team briefed participants on the portal’s technical framework, its range of features, and the phased implementation plan for its province-wide rollout. The meeting was attended in person by Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema and Director Admin Abid Shaukat, while Director Youth Affairs Muhammad Fahad and PITB members participated via video link. The briefing covered the technical architecture behind the portal and the practical steps required to bring it into active use across Punjab’s sports administration ecosystem.

The Rising Star Portal will allow athletes from all districts and cities across Punjab to register online, display their sporting credentials and achievements, and access information about sports facilities available in their area. Beyond serving individual athletes, the platform is designed as a provincial sports intelligence tool, generating structured data on participation trends, emerging talent concentration, and sport-wise engagement levels that policymakers can use to make more informed decisions about where to invest in facilities, training programmes, and competitive opportunities. Secretary Fazal described the portal as a significant step for sports development in Punjab, explaining that the platform will help surface new talent and give administrators a clearer picture of which sports are attracting the greatest interest and participation among the province’s youth population. The digital approach to talent identification and sports mapping represents a shift away from the informal, contact-based systems through which promising athletes have historically come to the attention of provincial sports bodies, creating a more inclusive and merit-driven pathway for young athletes across Punjab regardless of their geographic location or institutional connections.
