The Punjab Sports Department has launched an online registration system for the Chief Minister Punjab Youth Games, developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board to allow athletes from remote and far-flung areas across the province to register for the event without facing the logistical barriers that have historically limited participation from underserved regions.

The announcement was made by Director General Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi during a meeting held at the National Hockey Stadium, convened to review preparations for the upcoming CM Punjab Youth Games and to finalise the registration process, operational framework, and overall event strategy. Qureshi said the Punjab Sports Department is working in line with the vision of the Chief Minister to promote a broader sports culture across Punjab, widen participation opportunities, and support youth development at the grassroots level throughout the province.

The new online registration tool directly addresses a longstanding access gap in provincial youth sports competitions, where athletes from districts far from major cities have often been unable to participate simply because the registration process required physical presence or relied on institutional channels not easily accessible from rural or remote locations. By moving registration online, the Punjab Sports Department and Punjab Information Technology Board have created a pathway for young athletes across the full geographic breadth of Punjab to enter the games on an equal footing with participants from more accessible urban centres.

The meeting was also attended by Director Admin Abid Shaukat and Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, who participated in discussions on the operational planning requirements of the event. The CM Punjab Youth Games sits alongside a broader set of provincial digital sports initiatives including the Rising Star Portal, which is being developed to create a comprehensive provincial sports talent database linking athlete profiles with facility information across all districts of Punjab.
