Punjab government is set to introduce technical education in public schools across the province, beginning with the new academic year. This initiative aims to integrate practical, career-oriented subjects into the middle and high school curriculums, providing students with essential skills that will prepare them for future success in various professional fields.

Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Punjab’s Secretary for School Education, has taken the lead on this ambitious project. He has ordered the printing of specialized textbooks for the new technical subjects, ensuring that students across the province have access to the necessary learning resources. To support this initiative, education officials have been tasked with reporting the number of students who enroll in these technical education programs at the middle and high school levels.

The curriculum for the new program will cover a wide range of fields, including agriculture, information technology, health sciences, and fashion design. These subjects are designed to equip students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience that will help them navigate the demands of the modern job market. By focusing on areas like agriculture and health sciences, the program will provide students with the opportunity to pursue careers in industries that are integral to the province’s economy and society. Additionally, the inclusion of fashion design and information technology will open doors for students interested in creative and tech-driven industries.

Wattoo emphasized that the overarching goal of the initiative is to empower students by equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in their professional lives. By introducing technical education into public schools, the Punjab government seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical work experience, ultimately enhancing the employability of graduates.

This program marks a significant shift in the province’s education system, reflecting a growing recognition of the importance of vocational training and skills development. With increasing demand for skilled workers in various industries, the Punjab government’s initiative aims to prepare students not only for higher education but also for the workforce, helping them make informed decisions about their career paths from an early age.

As the program rolls out across the province, it is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a skilled and competitive workforce in Punjab. With the support of the provincial government and the cooperation of schools, this initiative has the potential to pave the way for a more practical and career-focused approach to education in Pakistan.
