The Punjab government has outlined the application process for its T-Cash Card, allowing commuters to apply online and use a rechargeable smart card for cashless payments across supported public transport services. The initiative is being implemented through the Punjab Transport and Mass Transit Department in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the Punjab Mass Transit Authority. Applicants can submit requests through the e-Transit Punjab mobile application, the official online portal or a dedicated helpline. The card is designed to simplify fare payments and reduce commuters’ reliance on cash when travelling on the province’s public transport network.

Residents who want to apply must meet the relevant identity verification and banking requirements. According to official guidance, applicants should have a valid Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and complete verification through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The online process begins by registering or signing in to the e-Transit Punjab application or web portal. Applicants then select the T-Cash Card service, provide the requested personal information and follow the instructions to submit their application. The online portal also provides an option to check application status. People who need help with registration can contact the government’s published assistance helpline at 1762.

The T-Cash Card carries a listed issuance fee of Rs. 130, alongside Rs. 130 in delivery charges and Rs. 15 in service charges, bringing the total to Rs. 275 where all three charges apply. The rechargeable card can be used to pay fares on Metrobus services, the Orange Line Metro Train, Speedo buses, electric buses and other integrated public transport systems in Punjab. It also offers debit card functionality for eligible financial transactions, subject to the issuing bank’s terms and applicable requirements. The unified payment option is intended to make journeys more convenient by allowing passengers to use a single card across supported transit services rather than depending on separate fare-payment methods.

Cardholders should also be aware of the available recharge channels. According to the latest guidance reported by ProPakistani, users can add funds through the Bank of Punjab mobile banking application or supported interbank funds transfer services using a compatible banking app. The announcement advises commuters not to recharge the card through the e-Transit Punjab app. Applicants should check the official portal for the latest application, delivery and collection instructions before submitting their details or making payments. The T-Cash Card forms part of Punjab’s wider move towards digital public services, combining electronic fare collection with online applications and identity verification. Its practical impact will depend on reliable card issuance, accessible support and consistent acceptance across participating transport services.
