An online system has been established that will help public school teachers to apply for transfers through their mobile phones.
The education system in the country is widely known to be a system that need continuous and rapid improvement. As a system that needs to be revamped, it needs the use of modern technology and innovative teaching methods to ensure the system competes with other educational systems in the world. Although new methods have started being used to further aid the students, new methods have now started which are purposely aimed to help teachers and the admins in their role. It has recently been reported that public school teachers in Punjab can now apply for transfers from mobile phone through a new e-transfer system.
Public school teachers in Punjab have now been provided with the liberty to apply for their transfers through mobile phones through a designated application. The Government of Punjab have worked on this project in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and have now created a platform called e-Transfer system. This system will allow teachers to have access to individual transfer applications, score calculation formula, wait-lists, sanctioned posts at each school, as well as designation/post-based transfer eligibility.
Dr. MuradRaas, the Minister for School Education highlighted that the e-Transfer system was launched as an initiative by the government to tackle the issue ofan outdated, overburdened and traditional method of transferring of teachers that was highly dependent on officials.This system will make the transfer process of teachers simpler, efficient and transparent for all. Moreover, this will also help teachers to apply for posts in places where there is a shortage of teachers instead of those public schools that have surplus teachers already present.
It has also been reported that this system has garnered impressive responses since its launch. A total of 32,231 teachers applied for transfers this year contesting for 20,162 available posts. Also, this has already generated transfer orders of teachers with QR-codes for almost 18,000 applicants after detailed verification of transferred teachers from district education authorities. The applicants will receive a copy of their transfer order on their cell phones.
