PTCL announced the discontinuation of its Charji service in many parts of Pakistan, effective June 30, 2024. This popular 4G internet device, known for providing portable Wi-Fi, will no longer be available in major cities and smaller regions across the country, with the exception of Kashmir.
The shutdown will impact users in a wide range of areas, including Attock, Bannu, Bhakkar, and several other cities. A complete list of affected locations is available, however a quick search on Google Maps might be more convenient for most users.
PTCL is offering some compensation for the closure in the form of a 50% discount on Ufone’s 4G Blaze device. Existing Charji users can avail this offer by visiting a PTCL or Ufone service center with their old device and CNIC. This discount brings the price down to Rs. 2,750 from Rs. 5,500.
The Ufone 4G Blaze is a viable alternative to Charji, offering the ability to connect up to 10 devices simultaneously and boasting a 4-hour battery life. It comes with a 1-year warranty and requires no complicated setup process, functioning on a simple plug-and-play basis.
Ufone also provides various monthly data packages for the 4G Blaze device, ranging from 120 GB to 300 GB. It’s important to note that these packages include data with time-based validity for a portion of the total allowance.
