PTA will open the financial bids for the 5G consultancy process on October 3, 2024. The consultant firm selected will be responsible for preparing a comprehensive report on the launch of 5G services in Pakistan.

Five international companies have qualified for the consultancy, including Aetha Consulting Limited, Detecon Consulting FZ-LLC, Frontier Economics Limited, KomKonsult (Private) Limited, and National Economic Research Associates Inc. The technical bids were opened earlier this month, and the evaluation of both technical and financial bids will follow the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.

The government aims to launch 5G services in Pakistan by April 2025, and the consultant’s report will serve as the foundation for this rollout. 5G is expected to enhance data speeds, connectivity, and economic opportunities across the country.

Earlier this year, PTA invited applications for 5G consultancy following approval from the Ministry of Finance. The authority subsequently issued Terms of Reference (ToRs) for hiring an international consultant to guide the 5G spectrum launch. Eleven firms submitted their expressions of interest (EOI), and ten were shortlisted, with one construction company, JHK Construction, excluded from the process.

The selected consultant firm will play a crucial role in assisting the government in launching 5G services in Pakistan, contributing to the country’s digital transformation and economic growth.
