PTA took action against illegal SIM issuance in a raid conducted in Lahore. PTA’s Zonal Office in Lahore collaborated with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle to target a cellular company franchise located on Jampur Road in DG Khan.

During the raid, authorities seized evidence including 17 BVS devices used for SIM registration, a laptop, 360 active SIM cards, and a concerning discovery of 1,000 scanned fingerprint/thumb impression images stored on laptops. FIA also apprehended two individuals on-site and is currently conducting further investigations.

This raid follows complaints filed by PTA with FIA based on reports of illegal SIM issuance by the franchise. In a statement, PTA emphasized its dedication to eradicating this practice. This action highlights PTA’s ongoing efforts to ensure the security and integrity of Pakistan’s telecommunication sector.
