PTA has stepped up its efforts to regulate online content, utilizing its Web Monitoring System to block numerous websites, social media links, and mobile applications.

The Minister in charge of the Cabinet Division informed the National Assembly that the PTA has blocked 2,369 URLs and 183 mobile applications involved in exposing personal data and identity information.

WMS, a surveillance infrastructure acquired in 2019, grants PTA extensive control over internet traffic. Through this system PTA has begun blocking social media IDs and other entities accused of engaging in harmful activities.

The government has been actively working to regulate online content, including through public awareness campaigns and the proposed Personal Data Protection Bill. PTA has also developed an online E-Portal system for government organizations to report unlawful content, and a user-friendly Complaint Management System for the public.

Upon receiving complaints, PTA analyzes the reported issues and coordinates with hosting entities to remove or block offending content within Pakistan.
