PTA announced that over 72% of telecom sites affected by recent floods have been restored, ensuring partial resumption of mobile communication in disaster-hit regions. The regulator confirmed that its teams, in collaboration with telecommunication operators, are actively working to bring back services across areas where connectivity was disrupted due to the severe flooding. Restoration efforts have been prioritized to ensure that communities impacted by the disaster can access essential communication tools to stay connected with family members and emergency services.

According to PTA, telecom operators are continuing repair and recovery operations in multiple flood-stricken districts where sites were either submerged or damaged. Technical teams are making use of alternate solutions, including mobile generators and temporary network setups, to bring coverage back to normal. PTA stated that all possible measures are being taken to accelerate the process of restoring services in regions that remain disconnected. With over two-thirds of the network now reactivated, authorities are focusing on the hardest-hit localities where accessibility remains a challenge due to infrastructure damage. The regulator emphasized that maintaining communication lines is vital in disaster situations, and every effort is being made to ensure uninterrupted services for affected populations.

To support users in these difficult circumstances, telecom operators are also offering free on-net voice calls in flood-affected regions. PTA confirmed that this initiative allows mobile users to stay in touch with their families and reach emergency services even in the absence of balance. By ensuring access to communication without financial barriers, operators aim to provide relief to people struggling with the aftereffects of the floods. This step is particularly critical as communities attempt to coordinate rescue, relief, and rehabilitation activities. PTA highlighted that emergency accessibility is a top priority, and such measures have been implemented to help affected populations remain connected during recovery.

Restoration of mobile connectivity is also being viewed as an essential part of the broader disaster management response. By reviving telecom services, residents in flood-hit areas can coordinate with relief organizations, access timely updates, and communicate with authorities regarding urgent needs. PTA stated that coordination between operators and government agencies remains strong, enabling the deployment of resources in areas where the situation is most critical. The regulator reiterated its commitment to full restoration and assured that all stakeholders are actively working toward complete service resumption. As work continues in challenging terrains, the reactivation of more than 72% of affected sites underscores the importance of resilient telecom infrastructure in times of national crises.
