PTA issued a statement on Monday addressing recent rumors about a tender for firewalls. These rumors, circulating in newspapers and on social media, suggested the firewalls would be used to monitor and control national internet and social media.
PTA firmly denied these claims, clarifying that the tender is solely for acquiring firewalls to be used on their internal IT infrastructure. The purpose of this procurement is to enhance the security of PTA’s internal systems, with the firewalls deployed exclusively at their primary data center and disaster recovery (DR) site.
The statement further details that the tender seeks four Next-Generation Firewalls and two Web Application Firewalls. These will be implemented to establish robust, layered security for PTA’s internal network and applications only.
