Chairman of PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), met with Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), during the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025. This high-profile engagement aimed to enhance regional collaboration in the telecom sector, focusing on digital connectivity, regulatory frameworks, and technological advancements across the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting underscored Pakistan’s commitment to fostering global partnerships in the telecommunications industry. With rapid technological changes shaping digital economies worldwide, the discussion revolved around strengthening cooperation in spectrum management, emerging technologies, and cross-border digital initiatives. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of regulatory alignment and knowledge-sharing to ensure sustainable growth and accessibility in the telecom sector.

Chairman PTA reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to promoting a robust and inclusive digital ecosystem. He highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to improve connectivity infrastructure, expand broadband access, and implement policies that support innovation in the ICT sector. The collaboration with APT is expected to further Pakistan’s strategic goals of enhancing its telecom regulatory environment and aligning with global best practices.

Mr. Masanori Kondo praised Pakistan’s proactive approach to digital transformation and emphasized the role of regional cooperation in addressing challenges such as cybersecurity, 5G deployment, and bridging the digital divide. He assured APT’s support in knowledge exchange, capacity building, and policy development to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 served as a critical platform for industry leaders, regulators, and policymakers to engage in discussions that shape the future of global telecommunications. The meeting between PTA and APT marks a significant step toward strengthening international collaboration and positioning Pakistan as a key player in the evolving digital landscape. As Pakistan continues its journey toward a more connected and digitally inclusive future, partnerships like these play a pivotal role in driving innovation, improving regulatory frameworks, and ensuring that the benefits of technological advancements reach all segments of society.
