Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced a special one-day incentive for all mobile users across the country to celebrate a major national milestone — crossing 200 million telecom subscribers. As part of this initiative, every mobile subscriber in Pakistan will receive 2GB of free data and 200 on-net minutes, valid for 24 hours, on June 20, 2025. The complimentary offer can be activated on any mobile network by dialing *#2200#.

This announcement follows updated data released by PTA, indicating that mobile subscriptions in the country have reached 197.7 million, with broadband subscribers surpassing 150 million and fixed-line users recorded at 3.75 million. With these figures, mobile service coverage now reaches over 80 percent of the national population, marking a major step in Pakistan’s ongoing digital transformation.

To mark this achievement, PTA has planned a commemorative ceremony at its headquarters in Islamabad. The event will bring together prominent figures from the telecom ecosystem, including representatives from mobile network operators, mobile device manufacturers, regulatory officials, and sector stakeholders. The gathering will focus on reviewing Pakistan’s progress in digital connectivity and outlining strategies to further accelerate access to mobile services and broadband across underserved regions.

Alongside the official ceremony, a series of public engagement efforts are being introduced to expand the reach and relevance of this milestone. In addition to the free call and data packages being offered by mobile network operators, mobile device manufacturers are also playing a role in the celebrations. Each participating brand has been invited to contribute between 10 to 15 mid-range smartphones. These devices will be distributed among attendees through a lucky draw during the event as part of community-focused engagement.

The announcement has been well received by users and telecom professionals alike, with many viewing it as an important symbolic gesture that highlights both the scale of mobile adoption in Pakistan and PTA’s role in pushing forward national digital access. The rapid increase in mobile and broadband usage has been credited to sustained efforts in infrastructure deployment, spectrum auctions, and policy reforms encouraging private sector investment in the telecom sector.

Officials have noted that such initiatives help promote the use of digital services, encourage inclusion, and boost awareness of connectivity milestones. With a population exceeding 240 million and a growing demand for internet access across urban and rural areas, the Pakistani telecom sector is now considered one of the fastest-expanding digital markets in the region.

Through this one-day package and the accompanying celebration, PTA aims to reinforce its commitment to digital inclusion and user empowerment while showcasing the contributions of both private telecom players and government-led connectivity programs. The event serves as a reflection of how regulatory collaboration and innovation can lead to inclusive, large-scale progress in national connectivity infrastructure.
