PTA and Commerce Ministry Collaborate to Advance Pakistan’s Digital Ecosystem

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) have signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and facilitating trade through technological innovation. The agreement, signed at PTA Headquarters, signifies a commitment to advancing e-commerce, cybersecurity, and cloud computing while fostering a more inclusive and competitive environment for businesses and consumers.

This collaboration outlines key areas of cooperation between the two entities, focusing on knowledge sharing, capacity building, and promoting cross-border trade. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), emphasized PTA’s dedication to driving innovation and collaboration in building a robust digital society. He highlighted the critical role of digital infrastructure in enabling transformative growth across various sectors, particularly in e-commerce and digital trade. Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Jawad Paul, praised the PTA’s contributions to digital inclusion and reiterated the importance of this partnership in creating an environment conducive to economic growth.

The MoU also underscores the shared goal of improving Pakistan’s digital trade landscape. Both organizations aim to streamline regulatory processes, enhance cybersecurity measures, and encourage the adoption of cloud computing to meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers. By addressing these core areas, the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations alike.
