Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), announced that Pakistan’s IT industry, represented by P@SHA, has secured observer status at the 3rd General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) in Bahrain. This recognition positions P@SHA as one of the 33 global observers within the DCO, signifying a crucial development for Pakistan’s IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) exports.
DCO, as a multilateral global organization, aims to foster a digital economy for its member countries by promoting sustainable and inclusive growth and facilitating collaboration to address dynamic challenges in the digital era.
Chairman P@SHA emphasized the significance of the launch of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), with a focus on IT, enabling the private sector to attract global investments, establish joint ventures, and foster digital collaborations. This strategic move positions Pakistan as a potential major tech destination.
He also highlighted the efforts of Dr. Umar Saif, the federal caretaker minister for IT & telecom (MoITT), who actively includes the private sector in international outreach, connecting Pakistan with key players in the global IT industry.
Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan, are also members of DCO. These countries, undergoing significant economic and digital transformations, present a substantial demand for IT services from Pakistan, strengthening bilateral collaborations in the IT sector.
