P@SHA Bids Farewell To PSEB CEO Abu Bakar Recognizing His Contributions To Pakistan’s IT Industry

Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) organized a farewell ceremony in Islamabad to honor the outgoing CEO of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Mr. Abu Bakar, recognizing his valuable contributions to the country’s IT and software export sector. The gathering brought together key representatives from the government and the private sector, reflecting the close collaboration between PSEB and P@SHA in driving the digital transformation of Pakistan’s technology landscape.

Held on October 9, the event was attended by Federal Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan Ms. Shaza Khawaja, P@SHA Chairman Mr. Sajjad Syed, Senior Vice Chairman Mr. Muhammad Umair Nizam, Vice Chairman Mr. Raheel Iqbal, Treasurer Mr. Muhammad Haris Naseer, and CEC Members Mr. Abdul Wahab, Mr. Salman Dar, Mr. Sheikh Abdul Qadir, and Dr. Sonia Saleem. Secretary General Mr. Ali Hasani and Former P@SHA Chairman Mr. Muhammad Zohaib Khan were also present, alongside representatives from PSEB and leading figures from Pakistan’s IT industry. The ceremony served as an opportunity for the technology community to express appreciation for Abu Bakar’s efforts in strengthening Pakistan’s IT ecosystem and promoting the country’s exports on the global stage.

During the event, Mr. Abu Bakar expressed his gratitude to both government and industry stakeholders for their continuous support throughout his tenure. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts between PSEB and P@SHA in advancing digital initiatives, enhancing export capacity, and nurturing local IT talent. His remarks emphasized the importance of maintaining strong public-private partnerships to ensure Pakistan remains competitive in the global technology market. He also highlighted the progress made under his leadership, including initiatives aimed at expanding Pakistan’s presence in international markets and improving the overall competitiveness of local software companies.

Several speakers, including Minister Shaza Khawaja, P@SHA Chairman Mr. Sajjad Syed, Senior Vice Chairman Mr. Muhammad Umair Nizam, Treasurer Mr. Muhammad Haris Naseer, and Former Chairman Mr. Muhammad Zohaib Khan, shared their reflections on Abu Bakar’s tenure. They praised his leadership, commitment, and vision that contributed significantly to the policy direction and institutional development of PSEB. Minister Shaza Khawaja presented a commemorative shield to Mr. Abu Bakar as a token of appreciation for his service and leadership in promoting Pakistan’s IT exports and digital innovation.

The farewell ceremony symbolized mutual respect and acknowledgment of shared achievements between P@SHA, PSEB, and the broader IT community. Attendees reiterated their collective commitment to sustaining the momentum in Pakistan’s IT industry by supporting new initiatives and strengthening collaboration across public and private sectors. The event reflected the spirit of partnership and progress that continues to define Pakistan’s technology ecosystem, celebrating a leader whose efforts have left a lasting impact on the nation’s digital growth journey.
