Islamabad is currently hosting the Prime Minister’s National Innovation Award (PMNIA), a prominent initiative of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme aimed at supporting early-stage startups across Pakistan. The highly anticipated event commenced with the idea-pitching stage held at NUST from June 17 to June 18. A total of 256 shortlisted candidates from across the country presented their innovative ideas before a distinguished panel of judges at NUST.

The competition will culminate in the National Award Ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office today, June 19, 2023. The top 50 contestants from the pitching round at NUST will be awarded cash prizes of up to PKR 2 million.

Organized by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the National Innovation Award serves as a catalyst for nurturing creativity, entrepreneurship, and providing opportunities to the youth of Pakistan. PMNIA offers equity-free grants, empowering young innovators to transform their ideas into viable products and businesses.

The competition boasts a diverse range of participants, including students, professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs. With a jury consisting of esteemed experts from various thematic areas and industries, candidates strive to showcase their innovative ideas and business plans, hoping to gain recognition for their efforts.

One notable feature of this pitching competition is its inclusivity, allowing both physical and online pitching. The incorporation of online pitching ensures a broader evaluation of ideas and encourages a more diverse pool of talent to participate and contribute to the innovation landscape.
