Pakistani technology startups have been invited to apply for the Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups, a national initiative launched to support cloud adoption and scalable digital growth across the local startup ecosystem. The program is being implemented by Ignite National Technology Fund under the Ministry of IT and Telecom and is positioned as a structured effort to help startups strengthen their technical foundations while managing infrastructure costs more effectively.

The Prime Minister’s Cloud Program for Startups has been designed as a one year initiative focused on helping startups adopt, optimize, and scale cloud infrastructure in line with their business needs. Through a combination of tier based cost reimbursement, expert technical guidance, and collaboration with leading Cloud Service Providers, the program aims to address common challenges faced by early stage and scaling startups. Selected startups may receive up to 60 percent reimbursement on eligible cloud costs, depending on their development stage and approved tier. In addition to financial support, participating startups will gain access to expert advice on cloud architecture, service selection, and cost optimization, enabling them to make informed infrastructure decisions. The program also provides ecosystem exposure through program driven activities and collaborative engagements, supporting greater visibility and industry connectivity for participating startups.

The initiative is open to Pakistani tech startups that are either at an early deployment stage or actively scaling their operations. Eligible applicants include startups offering technology based products or services that currently use cloud infrastructure or have clear plans to adopt cloud services. Startups are expected to demonstrate growth potential, readiness to scale, and a clear justification for cloud usage aligned with operational and commercial objectives. Ignite has emphasized that cloud adoption under the program should be purposeful and measurable, ensuring that infrastructure usage directly supports business performance and sustainability. By focusing on structured adoption rather than ad hoc usage, the program seeks to improve efficiency and long term scalability across Pakistan’s startup landscape.

The application and participation process follows a defined framework aimed at transparency and accountability. Startups are required to apply through a competitive online selection process available at  this link. Successful applicants will receive a formal offer detailing their assigned tier, approved cloud credit limit, and agreed performance indicators such as user growth, revenue targets, or specific milestones. Participating startups will initially use cloud services from their chosen Cloud Service Provider using their own funds and submit invoices for verification. Reimbursements will then be issued based on the approved percentage linked to the assigned tier, subject to applicable terms and conditions. Startups will also be required to submit quarterly reports outlining cloud usage and its impact against agreed metrics. Applications for the program are open until January 27, 2026, and Ignite has provided a dedicated contact channel at PMcloud@ignite.org.pk for queries. Through this initiative, the government aims to support Pakistani startups in building, scaling, and competing on cloud infrastructure while maintaining greater control over operational costs and technical performance.
