Prime Minister of Pakistan Unveils Pakistan Code Website and Apps for Easy Access to Federal Laws

  • August 8, 2023

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has introduced a groundbreaking initiative, the Pakistan Code, which aims to provide accessible and convenient access to all federal laws. This initiative includes a dedicated website, as well as Android and iOS applications (currently in beta).

The primary objective of the Pakistan Code is to offer the general public, judges, lawyers, litigants, law students, and researchers easy and flexible access to federal laws. Users can access this comprehensive resource from any device with an internet connection, ensuring convenience and accessibility.

The database comprises a wide range of laws, covering areas such as criminal laws, medical laws, civil laws, and many more. Furthermore, users can explore laws dating back over half a century, enabling historical legal research. Presently, the website houses 943 Federal Laws, spanning from 1839 to the present day.

In addition to the extensive collection of laws, the Pakistan Code website also features The Constitution of Pakistan, Rules of Business, and various other legal documents. The accompanying app includes a QR Code for quick reference to Federal Laws. All laws are meticulously watermarked, proofread, and reviewed for accuracy.

To safeguard the platform and its users, stringent cybersecurity measures have been implemented, aligning with the directives of the National Telecom and Information Security Board (NTISB) to counter cyber threats effectively.

The Prime Minister commended the dedicated efforts of Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Parliamentary Secretary Mehnaz Akbar Aziz, and Secretary Law Raja Naeem Akbarfor for their contributions to the development of the Pakistan Code website and applications. He described the launch of the Pakistan Code app as a historic moment that signifies the digital transformation of Pakistan’s legal landscape.
