The process of resource distribution between the federal government and its provincial constituents is an evolving process. The latest constitutional manifestation for this purpose took place in the shape of the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Awards and 18th constitutional amendment in 2010.
Therefore, following the spirit, PRIME Institute has been involved in undertaking evidence-based research on various aspects of NFC award from devolution and operational perspectives. The institute has published several papers, from reputed economists and public policy practitioners, on structural issues and impacts of NFC award. Moreover, in 2018 they also held a National NFC Conference, where the research papers were presented to government officials, academia, public policy practitioners and civil society representatives.
PRIME, recently on the 22nd January 2019 held a National Conference on the topic of “NFC Reforms – Institutional, Developmental and Political Outlook”. At the conference two eminent scholars presented their research papers on the deadlock in NFC award and socioeconomic implications of the award.
Overall, the purpose of this ongoing research exercise is to develop a proactive orientation on exploring challenges and recommending policy solutions for enhancing NFC impact.
