Government school students who qualify for the Prime Minister Youth Chromebook Scheme can check their details and register for a free Chromebook through the official portal of the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). The scheme is meant for high-performing students of government schools across Pakistan, and selection is based on the results of the 2026 annual examinations. Students of private schools are not eligible under the announced criteria. Eligibility differs by region, and in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, high-performing Class 9 (SSC-I) students are eligible. The scheme is intended to improve access to digital educational tools for students who have performed well but may not have a device of their own at home.
The registration process works through the educational boards. Boards forward the names of shortlisted students to the IBCC, and students then use the official portal at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk to check their information and register. They need to select their relevant board and enter their B-Form number, CNIC number, roll number, or registration number, depending on what the board requires, without dashes or other special characters. Students are advised to make sure their academic and personal details match the records held by their boards. If any information is wrong or a record cannot be found, they should contact their board or school administration. The last date for registration varies by board, so students should look for the announcement issued by their own board to confirm the deadline that applies to them.
Some boards have already started the process on their side. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has forwarded the details of eligible students who appeared in the SSC Annual-I Examination 2026 to the IBCC in Islamabad, and it has uploaded the list of students on its website for school administrations to check. School heads are required to complete a verification form with accurate information, including the student’s name, B-Form number, examination roll number, board registration number, academic marks, and institution details, and to inform the board’s Director of Research and Development about the submission. The notification states that final allocation remains subject to verification and the requirements of the Chromebook distribution programme, which means appearing on a list does not by itself guarantee a device.
The scheme is part of a larger Chromebook programme announced by Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan in December 2025, under which 700,000 Chromebooks are to be distributed to students in schools, colleges, and universities across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The rollout is being carried out in phases, with a monitoring mechanism to track how the devices are used, and the stated aim is to narrow the digital divide between urban and rural students. According to BOL News, the TIF Foundation Lahore is working with the government to supply the devices. The reports reviewed do not say how many Chromebooks are allocated to this particular round or when students can expect delivery, so those details will depend on the verification process and on announcements from the boards and the IBCC.
