Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched a new artificial intelligence based digitisation platform for the Prime Minister’s Office, designed to replace paper based working across the highest level of government. According to a statement issued by the PMO, the platform, known as the Prime Minister Office System, is intended to record, communicate, monitor and track every directive issued by the prime minister from the moment it is issued through to verified completion and follow up monitoring.
The launch ceremony was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and other senior officials, during which the prime minister received a detailed briefing on the platform and its intended objectives. Addressing the ceremony, Shehbaz directed all relevant authorities to ensure immediate and complete implementation of the new digital system, stating that traditional paper based processes in his office would be phased out entirely going forward. He told attendees that he would no longer expect officials in his office carrying files, with all matters instead handled through the new system. He also praised the efforts of the IT minister and Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan in developing and operationalizing the platform.
The prime minister urged all ministries and government departments to adopt the system, saying it would improve the government’s ability to deliver results and make service delivery easier for citizens. Officials at the briefing described the platform as one of the leading government systems in Pakistan to integrate artificial intelligence as a central part of decision making and implementation monitoring, positioning it as an early example of AI driven digital transformation at the federal level. According to the briefing, the system was developed to ensure efficient communication of the prime minister’s directives throughout government machinery while enabling timely implementation in line with defined quality standards, and also functions as a secure, technology driven decision support platform by combining analytics with structured information within a protected IT environment.
Officials said the platform would allow the government to make more effective use of technological, human and financial resources to generate better economic outcomes through continuous policy calibration, with the broader intention of embedding governance reforms at the top level of government before extending them across the wider administrative structure. At the core of the system is a digital repository recording every directive issued by the prime minister along with the complete chain of implementation, functioning simultaneously as an institutional knowledge base and a permanent record of government decision making. Unlike conventional government tracking systems, officials noted that the new platform is capable of reading, classifying and analyzing directives through artificial intelligence rather than simply storing them, distinguishing it from earlier digital record keeping tools used across government departments.
