Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Land Information and Management System – Center of Excellence in Rawalpindi, aimed at enhancing food security, agri exports, and transforming uncultivated land. The LIMS is a state-of-the-art system that will optimize agricultural production through innovative technologies and sustainable practices while benefiting rural communities and preserving the environment.

The GIS-based LIMS will digitize agriculture, providing real-time information on soil, crops, weather, water resources, and pest monitoring to local farmers. It will also streamline the marketing system, reducing the role of middlemen.

According to the World Food Programme, 36.9% of Pakistanis are food insecure, with 18.3% facing a severe food crisis. Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir was present at the inauguration ceremony, along with several ministers, agricultural experts, and senior army officials.
