Plan 9 is a project initiated by the Punjab Information Technology Board.  Since Plan9 was initiated it has incubated over 118 startups, hence is one of Pakistan largest Tech Incubators. It was launched in 2012 with the motive of giving budding entrepreneurs, the opportunity to transform their business vision to reality, who were using technology as their key component. Within four years of its inception, plan9 has evolved into more than simply a technology incubator, it is an entire ecosystem for technological innovation and entrepreneurship, such as the Silicon Valley, and has profoundly impacted all over Pakistan.

Plan 9 has taken up various initiatives all over the country. In its latest initiative Plan9 has collaborated with Careem and has come up with a Business Idea Competition called Erupt. Erupt’16 is the first student-based entrepreneurial competition with the idea of further strengthening up the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan.  The primary purpose of the competition is to bring the student body up to speed with the revolutionary entrepreneur ecosystem.

Hence this competition calls out to all creative students who like to think outside the box and have entrepreneurial aspirations. Erupt’16 will include fifteen universities and will span through a period of three months. There are about three hundred teams competing in this challenge and there will be one winner. All university students are eligible to apply. The top 20 teams within a university will compete with each other and the one winner will proceed to the champions round. There will be 15 teams representing 15 universities competing in the champions round and one winner will emerge.

Erupt’16 will hold different awareness sessions within the 15 universities including a three day Launchpad in which the teams will be giving a 2 minute elevator pitch, they will receive business plan training and give a business plan presentation. The winner of this presentation will then proceed to the champions round.
