Punjab Government presented the Punjab Budget 2026 through the PITB developed PEOPLE Application, marking another step in the province’s digital transformation efforts by adopting a paperless approach during the budget session of the Punjab Assembly. Developed through collaboration between Punjab Information Technology Board, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, and the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department, the application enabled assembly members to access all essential budget documents and speeches digitally on their tablets. The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on using technology to improve administrative efficiency while reducing dependence on printed documents during official proceedings.

The PEOPLE Application was designed to provide members of the Punjab Assembly with secure and simultaneous access to all budget related material during the session. Through the platform, members were able to review official documents and speeches directly from their devices without relying on printed copies. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif also accessed the Punjab Finance Minister’s Budget Speech 2026 from her desk through the application at the same time it became available to other members. The digital platform ensured that ministers and assembly members could receive identical information simultaneously, supporting transparency and allowing participants to review documents and submit their feedback electronically during the proceedings. The integrated system streamlined the distribution of official material while improving accessibility across the Assembly.

According to Punjab Government, the transition to the PEOPLE Application has significantly reduced the need for printing thousands of budget documents that were traditionally distributed during the annual budget session. The digital process has resulted in savings of millions of rupees that were previously spent on printing and distributing physical copies. In addition to reducing costs, the platform supports a more efficient workflow by making official documents instantly available to authorized users. The adoption of digital documentation also minimizes administrative delays associated with printing, transportation, and manual distribution while maintaining secure access to official records throughout the session.

The implementation of the PEOPLE Application demonstrates the increasing adoption of digital governance solutions across public sector institutions in Punjab. By enabling paperless budget presentations and providing instant access to official documents for assembly members, the initiative supports more efficient legislative operations while promoting transparency and collaboration during parliamentary proceedings. The partnership between PITB, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, and the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department highlights the role of technology in modernizing government processes and improving public sector efficiency. The successful use of the PEOPLE Application during the Punjab Budget 2026 session represents another example of digital tools being integrated into government operations to simplify administrative processes and enhance institutional performance.
