Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially launched the Young Engineers National Forum (YENF), a new initiative aimed at empowering and developing the future generation of engineers in the country. The forum is set to provide a dynamic platform that will enhance the professional growth of young engineers, while fostering leadership skills and technical expertise across various engineering disciplines.

The announcement came as PEC revealed plans to unite young engineering associations, societies, and groups under one umbrella. This initiative is designed to offer guidance, support, and resources for emerging engineers, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the challenges of both local and global markets. Through YENF, PEC aims to build a comprehensive database of young engineers, which will enable them to implement initiatives that enhance leadership capabilities and professional development.

Engineer Waseem Nazir, Chairman of PEC, emphasized that the forum is an essential step in preparing young engineers for the future.

“Our priority is to enhance the abilities of young engineers to prepare them for both domestic and international opportunities.”

According to Nazir, YENF will serve as the representative platform for young engineers and will play a crucial role in identifying initiatives that promote the growth and recognition of engineering professionals in Pakistan.

The forum will also work to foster unity within the engineering profession, providing recommendations and support for policies and programs that directly benefit young engineers. Nazir further noted that YENF’s purpose extends beyond professional development, as it aims to promote national cohesion and strengthen the camaraderie among emerging engineers from diverse backgrounds.

PEC has urged young engineers across the country to join the forum as members. The council has also called on associations, societies, and groups representing young engineers to register with the forum by submitting applications. The last date to apply for membership is January 20, 2025.

By joining YENF, young engineers will have the opportunity to contribute to the collective growth of the profession and play an active role in the advancement of engineering in Pakistan. With the establishment of the forum, PEC is looking to shape a new era for engineers in the country—one where collaboration, leadership, and skill development are central to the success of the profession.
