Payoneer and Stripe have entered into a strategic partnership that will soon allow Pakistani webstores to benefit from an upgraded Online Checkout experience. The collaboration marks an expansion of Payoneer’s Checkout offering, giving cross-border merchants in Asia Pacific—including Pakistan, Vietnam, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong—access to a more seamless and diversified payment ecosystem. For Pakistani e-commerce businesses, especially small and medium-sized exporters, this partnership is expected to address long-standing challenges in accessing reliable and globally accepted payment solutions.

The enhanced Payoneer Checkout will provide merchants with the ability to accept a wider variety of payment methods, including “Buy Now Pay Later” services such as Klarna and Affirm, as well as digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay. For many businesses in Pakistan, the lack of streamlined international payment infrastructure has been a recurring obstacle. Commenting on the development, Mutaher Khan, co-founder of Data Darbar, highlighted the convenience this could bring. “If they are opening this up to Pakistani merchants it will be a great convenience as payment solutions can be tricky. It’s not that they are not available, but it can be a tedious process as you may need to set up a small company in another country, there is a cost to it. These issues will be solved for any export-oriented e-commerce business based out of Pakistan,” he said.

According to Payoneer, the Checkout product has scaled rapidly since its launch three years ago, growing from zero to nearly $1 billion in annualized transaction volume. In the twelve months through June 30, 2025, the business generated $30 million in revenue, more than doubling year-over-year. This momentum reflects strong adoption among merchants seeking to simplify cross-border trade. Nagesh Devata, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific at Payoneer, emphasized that the partnership represents an important milestone for digital commerce in the region. “We are committed to simplifying cross-border online trade for SMBs across Asia Pacific and beyond. This partnership with Stripe is a strategic step in our journey to expand our Checkout offering and deliver a best-in-class user experience at scale,” he said.

By leveraging Payoneer’s local expertise and Stripe’s globally recognized checkout technology, the partnership is expected to deliver tangible benefits such as improved customer conversion rates, better acceptance rates, and reduced fraud risk. For Pakistan, where e-commerce is growing steadily but faces constraints in payment enablement, this collaboration could open new opportunities for merchants to scale their operations internationally. It signals a strengthening of the digital commerce infrastructure in the region and sets the stage for greater participation of Pakistani SMBs in the global online economy.
