Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, engaged in a fruitful meeting with Mansoor Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, CEO of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), in Qatar. The discussions centered on exploring opportunities and fostering mutual collaborations across various sectors. Faisal Al-Thani, QIA CIO of APAC & Africa, also participated in the meeting.

Simultaneously, Dr. Umar Saif visited the Qatar Free Zones Authority, aiming to understand how Pakistan’s IT companies can register in Qatar and leverage it as a hub for regional business opportunities. In this context, he met with CEO Sheikh Mohammed H.F. Al-Thani, with the presence of Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, Muhammad Aejaz.

Dr. Umar Saif further explored collaboration opportunities during his visit to the Qatar Science and Technology Park, discussing how Pakistani startups can benefit from their incubator and Startup Fund. Both parties agreed to sign an agreement establishing a startup exchange program between Ignite and Qatar Science and Technology Park.

In efforts to enhance cybersecurity, Dr. Umar Saif met with the authorities of Qatar National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), exploring a partnership with Pakistan’s newly created National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT). The goal is to forge a long-term relationship to secure the cyber space of both nations.

Additionally, Dr. Umar Saif visited Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and discussed matters related to the Pakistan Startup Fund. QDB, known for running a network of incubators in FinTech and AgriTech, expressed interest in making investments in startups from seed stage to series A.

The minister also held a meeting with Fahad Al-Sulaiti, CEO of Education Above All Foundation, further expanding the scope of discussions during his visit.
