Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Minister of IT & Telecom, announced significant strides in Pakistan’s IT exports, particularly in the Middle East. The minister revealed the signing of memorandums of understanding with three Qatari companies, expressing optimism about the potential growth of IT exports in the region.
Highlighting upcoming initiatives, Dr. Umar Saif mentioned the planned launch of 5G in July next year. He assured that proactive measures are being taken, including addressing the 300 MHz spectrum for 5G and resolving issues faced by telecommunication companies related to the implementation of 5G technology.
To streamline the process, a telecommunication tribunal is set to be established within three weeks, accompanied by the formation of an action advisory committee for 5G. The minister also disclosed plans to hire a consultant specifically for 5G initiatives, expressing hope that all telecommunication companies will invest in the spectrum.
Dr. Umar Saif underscored the importance of women’s participation in decision-making and business. He advocated for equal opportunities for women and highlighted government schemes aimed at empowering women in various sectors.
During the ceremony, officials from the World Bank Group outlined measures taken to create a conducive environment for the future and increase capital to support women in business. Dr. Umar Saif stressed the significance of empowering rural women as a catalyst for the country’s development journey.
