The Information Technology University of Lahore has introduced Pakistan’s first virtual reality classes, revolutionizing the educational landscape in the country.
By pioneering virtual education in the metaverse, the Information Technology University is bridging the gap between traditional and digital learning methods. Now, students enrolled in online courses can experience an immersive classroom environment akin to physical learning spaces, thanks to this innovative initiative.
In this groundbreaking setup, students and educators can actively participate in classes from any location across the country by simply donning a virtual reality headset. Equipped with essential teaching tools such as projectors and interactive boards, instructors can seamlessly deliver their lessons within the virtual realm.
Within the metaverse, students not only have the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers but also experience a sense of physical presence. Many students have remarked that the virtual classroom closely mirrors real-life settings, facilitating a deeper understanding of the curriculum.
Ibrahim Ghaznavi, the Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, emphasized that this initiative will not only conserve energy but also enhance students’ academic capabilities.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic when online classes were challenging for students to grasp, Ghaznavi stressed the importance of continually improving educational facilities for enhanced student comprehension.
As part of the pilot project, the university has forged an agreement with the University of Denmark. Industry experts believe that with supportive legislation and the integration of modern technology into education, Pakistan’s prominence in the global educational landscape will soar.
