CSO describes an application programming interface, or API, as a piece of software that contains the programming instructions, standards and protocols that enable two applications to talk to each other. Basically it essentially serves as a bridge that allows data to flow back and forth between the two systems.

APIs can build these bridges in several settings, according to Randy Heffner, vice president and principal analyst serving application development and delivery professionals at Forrester Research Inc.

Abacus Consulting in collaboration with Telenor, Telenor Bank, JS Bank, Apigee, Careem, and Momentum Tech Conference is bringing the very first APIthon to Pakistan this January 2018 between 13th-14th, in Lahore. An APIthon is all about disrupting the status quo and unleashing endless business opportunities leveraging on open APIs.

The VP Financial Services and Digital, Abacus Consulting Shoaib Khan speaking about the APIthon said, “By harnessing the power of open APIs coupled with intelligent, secure API management system, startups and corporations will have endless opportunities to mutually design and explore an ecosystem focused on disruption and experimentation – an ecosystem that will continue to grow long after the APIthon.”

Khurram Sheikh from JS Bank, speaking about the partnership with Abacus for the APIthon said

“With Abacus Consulting, we do not have the typical vendor organization relationship but it is more of a partner organization relationship. We are encouraging this open banking platform; they are also doing the open banking initiatives, hackathons and apithons. They are going to our partners in the upcoming APIthons where we will be launching our developer portal so they are hosting that and they are sponsoring that.”

CWPK Legacy
Launched in 1967 internationally, ComputerWorld is the oldest tech magazine/media property in the world. In Pakistan, ComputerWorld was launched in 1995. Initially providing news to IT executives only, once CIO Pakistan, its sister brand from the same family, was launched and took over the enterprise reporting domain in Pakistan, CWPK has emerged as a holistic technology media platform reporting everything tech in the country. It remains the oldest continuous IT publishing brand in the country and in 2025 is set to turn 30 years old, which will be its biggest benchmark and a legacy it hopes to continue for years to come. CWPK is part of the SPIN/IDG Wakhan media umbrella.
