Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator under the JazzWorld group, demonstrated its 5G network readiness to a delegation from PTA during a visit to its headquarters in Islamabad, one day ahead of the formal award of Next Generation Mobile Services licences. The demonstration was designed to provide PTA officials with a firsthand assessment of Jazz’s technical preparedness to deliver commercial fifth-generation connectivity, marking one of the final steps before the operator moves into the live service phase of Pakistan’s much-anticipated 5G rollout.
During the visit, the Jazz team walked PTA officials through the network’s fifth-generation capabilities and the performance benchmarks achieved through its upgraded infrastructure. Following the technical briefing, PTA officials joined Jazz representatives for live 5G experience testing at selected locations across Islamabad, putting the network through its paces in real field conditions and experiencing the speed, responsiveness, and real-time performance that next-generation connectivity is designed to deliver. The exercise served as both a technical validation and a demonstration of Jazz’s confidence in the quality of service it is prepared to offer from the day of commercial launch.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at JazzWorld, described the demonstration as a reflection of the investment Jazz has made in its network infrastructure following the recent spectrum acquisition, stating that the operator is positioned to deliver a high-quality fifth-generation experience from day one. He also highlighted that as Pakistan enters the 5G era, Jazz’s focus extends beyond urban high-capacity services to ensuring that next-generation connectivity expands access for the millions of Pakistanis who remain unconnected. That commitment is underpinned by Jazz’s spectrum portfolio, which stands as one of the most comprehensive in the country following the recent auction. Jazz emerged as the only operator to secure spectrum across all four newly auctioned bands, namely 700 megahertz, 2,300 megahertz, 2,600 megahertz, and 3,500 megahertz, tripling its total spectrum holding from 94.4 megahertz to 284.4 megahertz. The 700 megahertz band in particular positions Jazz to deliver wider coverage in rural and underserved areas, complementing the high-capacity urban performance enabled by its mid and high-band spectrum holdings.
