Modulus Tech is representing Pakistan at the Pitch@Palace event at the Commonwealth Summit where entrepreneurs from 52 commonwealth countries are competing

Pitch@Palace equips entrepreneurs with a credible platform to pitch their businesses to monarchs, business angels, business investors and potential partners at St. James’s Palace, London. The event is part of the Commonwealth Summit, where the theme for this year is “Towards a Common Future“. The theme for Pitch@Palace Commonwealth is “Human Tech – Benefits for Humanity”, which addresses the need to harness technology to build a healthier and more sustainable future.

The programme aims to support entrepreneurs who have identified opportunities in the areas of Biotech and Medtech; Education; Energy, Environment and Renewable Technology; Internet Security; Consumer Goods and IOT; Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; and Communications, Media and Entertainment.

Yaseen Khalid, Co-Founder of Modulus Tech, speaking about the representation said,

“We’re honoured to represent Pakistan at the Commonwealth Summit, and show a positive side of the startup ecosystem here. We want to solve a problem that has been ignored for far too long.

With our model, everyone will be able to afford a home – something that is a basic human right, but unfortunately, not readily available to everyone”

Yaseen and fellow civil engineers and co-founders Nabeel Siddiqui and Mohammad Squib felt that this was an issue that needed to be addressed. Modulus Tech, a startup incubated at The Nest I/O in Karachi, aims to revolutionise the low-cost housing sector to support displaced and homeless people. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and solar energy simulations, they have come up with a way to build a model in just 3 hours under USD 3,000 (PKR 300,000). The startup will be competing in the category of Energy, Environment, and Renewable Technology at Pitch@Palace Commonwealth Boot Camp and have the opportunity to receive support and mentoring from industry experts from around the world and Pitch@Palace alumni.

This year the competition will be taking place at St. James’s Palace, London, on April 16, 2018.
