The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) is set to streamline immigration processes at major airports across the country with the introduction of e-gates. The initiative, aimed at streamlining immigration procedures, will initially be implemented at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports, mirroring systems commonly found in developed nations.
According to airport sources, the installation of e-gates has already begun at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore, and Islamabad International Airport. Discussions with a United Arab Emirates company, representing PCAA, have paved the way for the implementation of this modern facility.
Upon successful installation, passengers at major Pakistani airports can benefit from a more efficient immigration process, allowing them to bypass long queues. The system is designed to resemble the procedures in place at airports in Dubai and other developed nations. However, passengers seeking to utilize this modern facility must possess an e-passport.
