Pakistan Railways has launched a new mobile application, Track My Train, aimed at making travel more transparent and accessible for passengers. The app, developed by Mango Tech Solutions, replaces the older Pakistan Railway Tracking System and introduces real-time tracking across the national railway network. According to the Ministry of Railways, the launch is part of efforts to modernize public services using digital tools and improve the travel experience for the growing number of rail commuters in the country.

Track My Train enables users to follow the exact location of trains in real time, helping them stay updated about journey progress and delays. The app displays station-wise arrival and departure times, alongside updates for any expected delays or schedule shifts. Users can view upcoming stops and route details of a selected train, along with a comparison between estimated and actual travel times to monitor punctuality.

Launched on June 18, 2025, the app is now available for download on both Android and iOS platforms via Google Play and Apple’s App Store. Since its release, the Android version has crossed 100,000 downloads, indicating strong interest from users. The application is available in both English and Urdu, but currently does not offer support for other regional languages spoken across Pakistan.

Despite not being officially endorsed by Pakistan Railways, the app sources its data from publicly available timetables and GPS signals. Mango Tech Solutions has stated that all data transmitted through the app is encrypted, ensuring a layer of protection for users during use. However, the app does collect device identifiers, which the company may share with third-party services for analytics and performance purposes.

The app is free to download and use, but includes ads as part of its standard offering. While the core utility of the app focuses on real-time tracking and schedule updates, its interface also allows users to easily search for trains, routes, and current positions without needing to log in or register. The developers have focused on creating a lightweight interface that prioritizes speed and usability on both high-end and low-end mobile devices.

This development marks a shift towards digitization in Pakistan’s public sector transport services, where passengers previously relied on station announcements, calls, or third-party updates to track train schedules. With the integration of GPS data and mobile accessibility, users now have a more immediate and reliable option to plan their railway journeys. By facilitating access to train information, the app is positioned to ease scheduling confusion and improve travel planning, especially for those who depend on rail transport for regular intercity movement.
