The 85th Executive Committee (EXCO) Meeting of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) commenced in Sri Lanka with a warm and vibrant welcome, setting a collaborative tone for the days ahead. The opening event, a grand welcome dinner, was hosted by Ruwan Amarasekara and Vajeendra S Kandegamage of the British Computer Society (BCS), in honor of the visiting EXCO members. Attendees included representatives from the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), BCS, and executive committee members from across the Asia Pacific region, including Pakistan.
The gathering served as a key networking opportunity, enabling stakeholders to strengthen relationships and foster new partnerships before the official meetings. The atmosphere was one of mutual respect and shared vision, reflecting the spirit of innovation and cooperation that APICTA has long championed across its member economies.
Scheduled for April 4th and 5th, the official sessions of the 85th APICTA EXCO Meeting bring together delegates from 17 member economies. These sessions are critical in shaping the future of ICT collaboration in the region, addressing pressing technological challenges, sharing success stories, and identifying new avenues for joint development in the fast-evolving digital landscape.
Pakistan’s delegation is represented by respected leaders in the tech community: Dr. Shoab Khan, Muhammad Zohaib Khan, and Ali Hasani. Their participation underscores Pakistan’s active role in regional ICT policymaking and collaboration, as well as its growing influence within the APICTA alliance. With a focus on innovation, capacity building, and digital inclusion, the meeting aims to pave the way for collective progress through technology.
As the EXCO sessions continue, the tone set by the opening event promises a productive and visionary outcome, driving forward APICTA’s mission to connect and elevate ICT initiatives across the Asia Pacific. The presence of experienced voices and emerging leaders alike ensures that the dialogue remains both grounded in real-world challenges and open to transformative solutions, creating a ripple effect that may well shape the technological future of the entire region.
