Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has announced the opening of seven senior-level positions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s digital transformation agenda. The recruitment drive is focused on attracting experienced technology professionals to lead strategic initiatives in emerging technologies, digital public services, cybersecurity, and internet governance. By bringing seasoned experts into these high-impact roles, MOITT aims to bolster Pakistan’s digital economy and improve the coordination and implementation of technology-driven programs at both national and provincial levels.
The newly announced positions include one Adviser, five director-level roles, and one expert role, each requiring at least 10 years of professional experience in relevant fields. The Adviser for Emerging Technologies Research will be responsible for guiding national strategies across artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, semiconductors, and cybersecurity. This role also involves monitoring global technology trends, advising on emerging technologies adoption, and ensuring collaboration with provincial authorities to integrate digital initiatives into broader development frameworks.
Director-level positions cover critical areas such as E-Governance, Digital Economy, Internet Governance, Cybersecurity and Privacy, and Emerging Skills. The E-Governance Director will lead national efforts to enhance digital public services, establish operational standards, and align initiatives with global best practices. The Digital Economy Director is tasked with creating policy frameworks to support innovation, fintech development, and other technology-driven economic activities. Other director roles focus on ensuring effective internet governance, strengthening cybersecurity frameworks, and developing programs to upskill professionals in emerging technology domains.
Additionally, the Expert in Emerging Technologies (AI and ML) will provide specialized guidance to inform policy decisions and technology adoption strategies. This role is aimed at helping policymakers understand advanced technological applications and design programs that foster innovation and efficiency across industries. MOITT officials note that this initiative reflects a research-driven approach to digital transformation, emphasizing evidence-based strategies and coordinated leadership to support Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.
