The Ministry of Planning and Development, led by Minister Ahsan Iqbal, has announced the establishment of the NETU. This initiative aims to drive economic reform and sustainable development, aligning with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a prosperous nation.

NETU is set to facilitate growth, productivity, and innovation by collaborating with stakeholders to implement policies that support Pakistan’s ambition of becoming a one trillion dollar economy by 2035. Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the importance of NETU in transforming the Ministry of Planning and Development into a development think tank that addresses economic challenges, promotes inclusive growth, and ensures sustainable strategies. The NETU is expected to attract top talent to contribute to nation-building efforts.

Operating within the framework of Pakistan Vision 2025 and the 5Es, the NETU will focus on key areas: stimulating growth and job creation through exports, enterprise, and employment; ensuring national digital transformation for efficiency and competitiveness under the E-Pakistan initiative; implementing sustainable practices for environmental balance and addressing water and food security; securing energy and developing infrastructure that is affordable, efficient, and green; and promoting social justice by empowering youth and women through the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The NETU will prioritize economic diversification, innovation, human capital development, sustainable development, public-private partnerships, and modern infrastructure. A robust monitoring framework will be established to track progress and ensure accountability.

Minister Iqbal expressed confidence in the NETU’s potential to transform Pakistan’s economic landscape. He affirmed the government’s commitment to making Pakistan a leader in economic innovation and sustainable development, guiding the nation towards a prosperous future.
