Pakistan Hit by Widespread Internet Outage

A widespread internet outage has crippled connectivity across Pakistan, with authorities scrambling to identify the cause of the disruption. Initial reports suggest the issue may be linked to international traffic rather than a domestic network failure.

While Meta-owned platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram remain operational, most other internet services have been affected.

Nayatel, an internet service provider, reported minimal disruptions in some southern cities but confirmed no issues in its northern network. However, other ISPs have reported varying degrees of service outages, indicating a potential problem with specific networks or regions.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has acknowledged the outage, attributing it to a fault in the PTCL system. The agency is monitoring the situation and working with service providers to restore full connectivity.

“We confirm that PTCL network is facing data outage in various cities due to which connectivity has been affected,” a PTCL spokesperson said. “Our teams are actively working to resolve and rectify the issue at the earliest.”
