Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, represented Pakistan at the International Plenary Session, “Digital Compass of the SCO-Partner,” held in Moscow, Russia. During her address, she highlighted Pakistan’s Digital Vision, emphasizing the government’s ongoing efforts to integrate trusted technologies, expand digital infrastructure, and promote secure and inclusive digital services across the country.

Minister Khawaja detailed how Pakistan is leveraging technology to advance governance, enhance citizen access to public services, and strengthen cybersecurity frameworks. She outlined initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of IT & Telecom to modernize the country’s digital ecosystem, including nationwide digitization programs, enhanced IT infrastructure, and policies aimed at fostering innovation and digital inclusion. Her address underscored the importance of international collaboration in building resilient, secure, and future-ready digital economies.

The session provided a platform for Pakistan to engage with other member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, sharing best practices in technology adoption, digital governance, and secure data management. Khawaja emphasized that global partnerships are key to ensuring sustainable development of digital systems that are reliable, interoperable, and aligned with international standards. She also spoke on Pakistan’s commitment to nurturing local talent and scaling up domestic technological capabilities to meet the growing demand for digital services.

The minister highlighted Pakistan’s focus on fostering trust in digital services through initiatives such as regulatory frameworks for cybersecurity, promotion of digital literacy, and deployment of secure online platforms for public and private sector interactions. She noted that these measures are essential to attract international investments, drive economic growth, and position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global digital economy. Khawaja’s participation in the SCO Partner session demonstrated Pakistan’s proactive approach to multilateral cooperation, reinforcing its commitment to shaping a secure, inclusive, and forward-looking digital future.
