In a move signaling a major push towards a digital future, the Pakistani government has established a high-level committee tasked with creating the groundwork for the National Digital Commission and Digital Pakistan Authority.
Headed by Minister of State Shaza Fatima, the committee will be led by IT and digital specialist Tania Aidrus. Comprised of seven additional experts, the committee will focus on crafting a robust legal and policy framework. This framework aims to bridge the gap between current governance structures and the demands of future digital initiatives.
“The committee’s primary goal is to harness the power of technology to propel Pakistan towards sustainable growth and development,” said a government spokesperson. “By pinpointing key areas where technology can drive economic benefits, we can create a roadmap for a more digital future.”
The committee will also explore ways to use technology to improve government practices. This includes focusing on transparency, efficiency, and accountability. This initiative underlines Pakistan’s commitment to embracing digital innovation as a key driver of progress, economic prosperity, and stronger governance.
With the committee setting the stage, the National Digital Commission and Digital Pakistan Authority are expected to significantly reshape Pakistan’s digital landscape, paving the way for a more technologically advanced future.
