Authorities have taken a significant step to bolster security at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium by deploying advanced anti-drone technology during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The move comes in response to growing concerns over unauthorized aerial surveillance and potential security threats posed by drones.

Police officials confirmed on Saturday that Lahore’s law enforcement agencies had formally requested the implementation of anti-drone measures to safeguard the stadium and its surrounding areas. These security protocols aim to ensure that no unauthorized drones operate in the vicinity during the high-profile matches. According to officials, the system will be equipped to block signals received by any type of drone, effectively neutralizing aerial intrusions. This measure is expected to provide an additional layer of security for players, officials, and fans attending the tournament.

The enhanced security arrangements coincide with Lahore’s role as a host city for the upcoming tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa. The series, scheduled to begin on February 8, will see Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match at Gaddafi Stadium. Teams are set to arrive in Lahore ahead of the event, with New Zealand landing on February 5 and South Africa following on February 7. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s training camp will kick off on February 4 in preparation for both the tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy.

Following the tri-series, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, with matches scheduled in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. The prestigious tournament will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches, with some of the most highly anticipated clashes in international cricket.

Pakistan’s squad for the tri-nation series and Champions Trophy has been announced, with Mohammad Rizwan leading the team as captain. The squad also includes star players such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Other notable selections include Salman Ali Agha, who will serve as vice-captain, along with promising young talents such as Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and Tayyab Tahir.

The tournament will commence on February 19, with Pakistan taking on New Zealand in Karachi. One of the most eagerly awaited fixtures of the competition will be the Pakistan-India showdown, scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. The historic rivalry between the two nations guarantees an intense contest, with fans from around the world expected to tune in.

Other key fixtures in the Champions Trophy schedule include Bangladesh facing India on February 20 in Dubai and a classic encounter between Australia and England on February 22 in Lahore. The semi-finals are slated for March 4 and 5, with the final set to take place on March 9. However, in the event that India qualifies for the final, the match will be moved to Dubai.

With security measures being strengthened and preparations well underway, Lahore is gearing up for an action-packed cricket season. The introduction of anti-drone technology at Gaddafi Stadium underscores the commitment of authorities to ensuring a safe and secure environment for players and spectators alike. As the countdown to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 begins, all eyes will be on Pakistan as it prepares to host some of the world’s top cricketing nations.
