OpenAI has rolled out a new feature called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” offering users a personalized, year-end recap of their interactions with the AI. Launched on December 22, 2025, this optional experience is designed to transform ordinary AI chats into a narrative-style summary, much like Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay, or YouTube Music annual summaries. Users receive insights into their top conversation themes, busiest chatting days, total messages, chat style analysis, and custom archetypes such as Navigator, Tinkerer, or Creative Debugger. The feature also includes playful elements like short poems inspired by chat topics, pixel-style artwork reflecting interests, and awards celebrating user habits.

The introduction of this feature comes amid a rapid expansion of ChatGPT’s user base. The platform now reportedly serves nearly 900 million monthly active users, up from 400 million weekly earlier in the year, with millions relying on it for writing, coding, research, learning, and creative brainstorming. By packaging user activity into a narrative, OpenAI provides a reflective and entertaining perspective on everyday AI interactions, making routine queries feel more personal and memorable. The feature is available to Free, Plus, and Pro plan users with chat history or memory enabled and sufficient activity. Users can access it via a home screen banner or by prompting “Show me my year with ChatGPT.” Rollout began in US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with some regions such as India reporting access for Go, Plus, and Pro users, while Enterprise, Team, and Education accounts are excluded for privacy.

Despite positive reception, some users have encountered errors when attempting to generate their year-end review. This appears to be related to the phased rollout of the feature, and OpenAI has not specified when full availability will be achieved. Tech media outlets have praised the creativity and engagement factor of the feature. MacRumors drew comparisons to Spotify and YouTube music recaps, noting its playful take on digital nostalgia. The Verge highlighted the inclusion of pixel art and awards, while Business Insider commented humorously on the exchange of em-dashes between user chats. Tom’s Guide shared prompts for users to create customized Wrapped summaries, such as categorizing prompts by productivity or parenting topics.

“Your Year with ChatGPT” taps into year-end reflection while blending practical usage with entertainment. By capturing a snapshot of user interactions, OpenAI emphasizes the growing role of AI in daily life and the personal connection users develop with intelligent systems. The feature illustrates how AI platforms can combine utility and delight, encouraging engagement while providing insights into user behavior. As more people integrate AI into their workflows, creative projects, and learning, this type of personalized recap demonstrates both the flexibility and the cultural impact of AI tools in contemporary digital life. Users who have not yet seen the prompt can simply ask their ChatGPT chat to check their Year-End Review, making the experience easy to trigger and privacy-conscious.
