With the passage of time, it is becoming crucial on how smartly a community utilizes data and how it plays a key role in its prosperity and wellbeing. On 3rd of March Code for Pakistan celebrated the Open Data Day 2019, on the occasion, Code for Pakistan’s OpenAsterisk team met to discuss the next steps and development roadmap for their opendata portal.
OpenAsterisk by Code for Pakistan is a step toward facilitating the government make the data public without putting anyone or anything at risk.
Speaking on the matter to Medium.com, the Code for Pakistan team said, “Our team of super volunteers for opendata portal; Shaji Ahmed, Sumayya Shaheen, Usman Yasin and Ayesha Akhtar, are building an online web portal to host, but not limited to, Islamabad Capital Territory Administration’s publicly available data.”
According to the post, the aim of the portal is to host any datasets that citizens may find useful. It is said that the Opendata portal is based on the popular CKAN framework which is being used by other governments and entities for sharing their data with the public.
