Online Extension of Pathways STEM Workshop Series Engages Young Innovators in Sukkur

The Pathways: STEM Workshop Series in Pakistan has expanded its reach through online engagement sessions, bringing hands-on STEM learning opportunities to students in Sukkur. Organized jointly by Lok Sahaita Trust, Asma M. Hashmi STEM Centre, NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET), and IBA Public School Sukkur, the initiative builds upon the in-person workshops conducted by the STEM team from Karachi. This online extension aims to ensure continuity in learning while making advanced STEM education accessible to young innovators outside major urban centers.

On 8th November 2025, participants from Sukkur who had previously attended the in-person sessions joined online workshops designed to deepen their understanding of emerging STEM fields. The Green Innovators Workshop Extension introduced students to nature-inspired technology, climate action, and sustainability practices, including strategies to reduce plastics usage and implement green initiatives. The Arduino Robotics Workshop Extension allowed participants to advance their skills in electronics and microcontroller programming, exploring servo motors and other tools for practical problem-solving. These sessions provided a dynamic environment for students to apply theoretical knowledge in hands-on projects, fostering critical thinking and creativity.

Leadership from NEDUET and partner institutions played an active role in guiding the workshops and ensuring their impact on the next generation of STEM learners. Dr. M. Tufail, Vice Chancellor of NEDUET, and Prof. Dr. Noman Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor, contributed strategic oversight, while Mr. Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, Chairperson of Lok Sahaita Trust, and Prof. Dr. Majida Kazmi, Director of Asma M. Hashmi STEM Centre, supported curriculum and coordination. From IBA Public School Sukkur, Dr. Ali Gohar Chang and Mr. Mohammad Arab ensured smooth implementation and student engagement. The professional trainers, including Mr. Fazal Abbas and Engr. Azhar Ali, provided specialized instruction in STEM and robotics, helping students translate theory into practical applications.

This initiative underscores a broader vision of nurturing Pakistan’s future innovators, equipping students with essential skills for careers in technology, engineering, and science. By combining in-person workshops with online sessions, Pathways: STEM Workshop Series offers a scalable model for STEM education, reaching students beyond major cities while fostering leadership, problem-solving, and creativity. The collaboration between educational institutions and trusts highlights the value of shared expertise in building sustainable learning ecosystems. Through continued engagement, students gain exposure to advanced technologies, green solutions, and robotics applications, creating a foundation for future STEM leaders in Pakistan.
