Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to driving the growth of Pakistan’s IT and telecom sectors.

In his keynote address at the recently held ITCN Asia 2024, OICCI President Rehan Shaikh highlighted the significant potential for growth in these sectors, emphasizing their role in boosting domestic industry and export revenues.

Shaikh underscored OICCI’s long standing contribution to Pakistan’s economic development and the importance of a robust IT ecosystem in attracting foreign direct investment and driving sustainable growth. He identified key challenges that need to be addressed, including bridging the skills gap, improving infrastructure, and ensuring consistent policy support.

Shaikh projected substantial growth in Pakistan’s IT/ITeS export revenues and domestic IT industry, with the potential to unlock significant economic value through digitalization. He praised the State Bank of Pakistan’s efforts in financial inclusion and the entry of digital banks into the market.

Rehan Shaikh called for continued collaboration between the government, private sector, and educational institutions to overcome challenges and fully realize the potential of Pakistan’s IT industry.
