Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif, held a meeting with Jahanzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Easypaisa Digital Bank, to explore opportunities aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. The discussion focused on enhancing linkages that can support innovation, research, and practical learning within Pakistan’s evolving digital finance landscape.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in emerging financial technologies and identifying areas where joint initiatives could be developed. Particular attention was given to the role of academic institutions in contributing to the fintech sector through research, talent development, and applied innovation. The conversation also highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry requirements, ensuring that graduates are better equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly digitizing economy.

The discussion further explored the concept of digitally enabled campus ecosystems, where financial technologies can be integrated into university environments to improve operational efficiency and enhance student experiences. Such initiatives may include digital payment solutions, financial literacy programmes, and the use of fintech tools to streamline campus services. These efforts reflect a broader shift toward adopting technology-driven solutions within educational institutions.

Both parties emphasized the potential for synergistic initiatives that not only advance academic research but also contribute to practical innovation in Pakistan’s digital finance sector. By aligning institutional expertise with industry capabilities, the collaboration is expected to create opportunities for knowledge exchange, skill development, and impactful projects that support the country’s growing fintech ecosystem.
