National Information Technology Board has officially procured a penetration testing and vulnerability assessment tool aimed at strengthening its secure software development practices and elevating security standards across its digital services. The acquisition is intended to give the board’s technical teams a more robust capability for identifying and addressing security weaknesses before they can be exploited.

An orientation and demonstration session was held for the board’s technical teams following the procurement, led by experts who walked participants through advanced scanning techniques and the tool’s core functionalities. The session also covered early vulnerability identification and reporting, along with recommended security practices for secure coding, giving developers and testers practical guidance on applying the tool within their existing workflows.

The training was attended by software developers, quality assurance engineers, and technical officials from across the board, reflecting an effort to build security awareness across multiple roles involved in the software development process rather than confining it to a specialized security team alone. By bringing developers and QA engineers into the same training session, National Information Technology Board aimed to ensure security considerations are integrated directly into everyday development work.

The procurement is intended to help the board’s teams integrate security assessments directly into the software development lifecycle, ensuring applications remain resilient against evolving cyber threats. The move adds to a series of institutional strengthening measures National Information Technology Board has pursued in recent months as it continues expanding its portfolio of digital government services, reflecting growing emphasis on embedding cybersecurity practices into the development process itself rather than treating security as a separate, later stage review.
