The Ministry of IT and Telecom and the National IT Board have announced a hiring drive for the Smart Islamabad Initiative, a PSDP project aimed at making the federal capital more connected and better governed through technology. The initiative is designed to address practical governance challenges through digital tools rather than serve as a symbolic upgrade.

According to the announcement, the Smart Islamabad Initiative focuses on improving traffic management through data driven systems, enabling more informed governance decisions, building stronger cybersecurity protections, and delivering digital public services that function reliably for citizens. The project falls under the wider push toward a more digitally enabled system of governance in the capital and reflects a broader effort to modernize how government services reach the public.

NITB is recruiting for a range of technical and managerial roles connected to the initiative, including Project Director, Integration Expert, Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Cybersecurity Analyst and Network Manager, among other positions. The roles span the full scope of the project, from overall leadership and systems integration to data handling and network security, indicating that the initiative involves substantial technical infrastructure development rather than a single narrow deployment.

Interested candidates can apply online through the National Job Portal at njp.gov.pk, with the deadline for applications set at fifteen days from the date of the announcement. All positions are based in Islamabad. The hiring call frames the opportunity as a chance for technology professionals to contribute directly to a project with wide public impact, positioning the roles as part of the country’s ongoing digital governance efforts rather than routine public sector openings.
