A delegation from the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) Lahore visited the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) as part of the 44th Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) to gain an understanding of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives introduced by the Government of Punjab. The visit was organized under the training module “ICT Interventions for Effective Service Delivery” to enhance the capacity of mid-career officers and familiarize them with Punjab’s digital transformation journey.

During the session, PITB Director General IT-Solutions Waqar Naeem Qureshi presented an overview of Punjab’s efforts to leverage technology for efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance. He outlined how PITB has been driving key digital projects that improve service delivery and strengthen institutional performance. Officers attending the course were given insights into various ICT initiatives, each aimed at addressing critical governance challenges and improving access to services.

PITB Additional Director General Syed Qasim Ifzal highlighted the role of Workflow Automation and Artificial Intelligence in supporting law enforcement processes under the Law & Order initiatives. PITB Chief Information Security Officer Sajjad Ghani explained the operational structure of Data Centers and detailed the cybersecurity measures that are essential for building a resilient and secure digital infrastructure in the province. Similarly, Director Haider Ali discussed the transformative impact of e-Stamping, showcasing how digitization of stamp papers has significantly reduced fraud while streamlining processes not only across Punjab but also in other provinces. JD Ashfaq Tiwana elaborated on the e-Procurement system, emphasizing its contribution to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public sector procurement.

The delegation also visited the e-Khidmat Markaz to observe citizen facilitation services in practice. The exposure provided participants with first-hand experience of how digital platforms are being used to enhance public service delivery. The visitors expressed appreciation for PITB’s achievements and recognized its contribution to building a technology-driven governance ecosystem in Punjab. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said that PITB remains committed to empowering institutions through technology and innovation, adding that such visits serve as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and encourage the adoption of digital solutions for effective governance across Pakistan.
